MICHIGAN BASSMASTERS – Membership Information

Club Information :
Michigan Bassmasters is one of the founding members of the Michigan B.A.S.S. Federation, Inc.

The club was formed in 1977. The club has won the Michigan Bass Federation State Championship four times and placed 2nd twice.

We are a member of Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation, and are a recognized club with National B.A.S.S.

The club has an active roster with 23 current members, and a maximum of 30 members

Our members live in the S.E. Michigan and N.W. Ohio areas.

Club headquartered in – Brighton Mich.

Our Club Meets Monthly on the 2nd Thursday of the month @7pm

Our meetings are currently held at Brighton Block Brewing Company (club sponsor)

We typically meet up at 6pm to have dinner and drinks before meeting

We do offer a zoom meeting option, but strongly encourage in person meetings

Tournaments

The club usually conducts 6 or 7 tournaments for club members throughout a calendar year in the state of Michigan.

For Each event – members are paired up by boat owner and non-boat owner (back seater)

Tournaments start in early May until late September early October.

Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, or other bodies of water 75 miles from Brighton are considered local one day tournaments.

The Club typically goes “up north” in spring and in fall and holds (2) 2-day tournaments during the calendar year.

We DO NOT fish for money: Our tournaments are for small yearend awards and bragging rights, and for a 1 X 4 metal widget that can be attached to individual plaques

Expenses:

Club dues: $150.00 / year

$30 goes to National Bass

$31 goes to Michigan Bass Nation

$89 goes to the club to fund club activities

Back seater day of tournament: $50.00 given to the boater

Practice day: Decided by boater and non-boater prior to practicing.

Membership requirements: Must be at least 18 years or older

Must be a member of national BASS -You can sign up at https://www.bassmaster.com/

Should be able to back in and pull out a boat trailer

All members are expected to participate in 75% of all club activities. (Monthly meeting, tournaments, other club sponsored events}.

Members are expected to contact an officer if he is unable to make an event.

Prior to be voted in: New members are asked to attend two consecutive monthly meetings and to fish with any member of the club.
